* An IPv4 address consists of four segments, known as octets, each containing up to three digits. Google provides an option to remove the last octet of an IP address before storing it, a process referred to as anonymization. However, the Dutch Data Protection Authority (AP) considers even a partially masked IPv4 address to be personal data, as a group of up to 256 devices could still be identifiable. Nonetheless, removing the last octet is regarded as a useful measure to reduce privacy risks.
